CLAIM: Linda's claims, among others, that this recall will cost more than $100K. DEO Wayne WIlliams has repeatedly stated that it will be in the range of $50K. His latest estimate for the ballots themselves is only $13K.
FACT: We don't have final numbers but with only 13K going to the ballots, it is highly unlikely that the total budget will go over 50K. The board allocated 100K on the recommendation of the GM so they would not have to come back and allocate more funds in the event it breached the 50K number.
CLAIM: Steve stands between the customers and rate increases.
FACT: Steve has voted for every rate increase in the last 3 years. He voted for the large rate increase in 2022, again in 2023, and most recently voted to add new fees to Antelope Ridge and a bulk water customer, the mobile home park known as The Springs. There haven't been any votes or even discussions on his alleged $50 increase because there isn't one.
CLAIM: Cleaning up the water comes with kickbacks.
FACT: There are no contracts or even companies being considered for contracts for water treatment at this time. The current board unanimously approved testing of materials for PFAS filtration in line with the EPA requirements. That company was chosen by a group within Cherokee that did not include board members. Kickbacks will not be tolerated by Jeremy Atkinson or Kim Wilson. In the past kickbacks were received by Steve and Linda in the form of gift cards and clothing branded with the company name. Steve has bragged about having "Golden Shovels" at his home that were part of groundbreaking ceremonies for the wastewater treatment plant. These were not paid for by Steve, in fact he claims they were given to him, yet the rest of the board were not offered similar "gifts".
CLAIM: Jeremy Atkinson is in cahoots with the 3 board members not being recalled to add over $45 million dollars in debt to your bills through lies and deception.
FACT: Public records are not psychic or fortune tellers. There are NO public records of what Jeremy Atkinson or Kim Wilson will do after being elected to the board. They are not in a position to make decisions for the board. However, Steve is and his record speaks for itself. He has voted repeatedly to raise your rates, while making baseless accusations at anyone he deems a threat to his seat.
While there are many claims being made by Steve Hasbrouck in a desperate attempt to keep his seat, none of them appear to be true. He has made false claims about a private citizen in his response, has borne false witness against Jeremy Atkinson at every turn, and wants to believe you know him. "You know me." That's Steve's campaign slogan. Given all the false information in his director statement on the ballot, it is easy to see who Steve is. Steve is someone who raises your rates at every opportunity without doing anything to address the issue of our drinking water. He continues to tune out the desires of the voters and customers of Cherokee. And Linda continues to rubber stamp his actions and votes.
